In addition, as would be expected of an educated individual, questions will be designed to assess knowledge of current events as well as everyday observations and experiences in their scientific context. Questions pertaining to India and its neighbors, particularly those pertaining to its history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, Indian constitution, and scientific research, will also be included in the exam.

Fill-in-the-blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detection of misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one-word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, comprehension passage, and any other English language questions would be the foundation for the questions in this component.

Knowledge of Official procedures and relevant Rules and Regulations

This component’s questions would test candidates’ knowledge of official procedures, such as the creation of official files and their records; familiarity with GFR (General Financial Regulations); procedures for shopping and stores; preparing official meeting minutes and keeping accurate records; Knowledge of the provisions of the Right to Information Act; Knowledge of the Service Rules, Leave Rules, and GPF, CPF, and New Pension Scheme provisions; making notes and drafts; communication and public relations; correspondence with institutions, both public and private; writing official and semi-official letters handed out by officers, understanding the differences between the various types of letters;
