About DTU LEET
75th years of Excellence in Engineering and Technology Education, Research and Innovations, Delhi College of Engineering (originally Delhi Polytechnic) was established in 1941 to meet the requirements of Indian industries for trained technical personnel with solid theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In response to the Wood and Abott Committee of 1938, the organization was established on the historic Kashmere Gate campus. It was a multi-level, multi-disciplinary school that offered numerous engineering, technology, art and sculpture, architecture, pharmacy, and business programs. In 1952, the college became a part of the University of Delhi and began offering formal degree programs.
The School of Planning and Architecture, which is now regarded as a university and institution of national importance, replaced the department of architecture. In order to mark the beginning of the IIT Delhi at its new campus at Hauz Khas, the departments of Chemical Technology and Textile Technology were moved out in bloc and the department of Arts and Sculpture became the College of Arts.
