About MH SET
In accordance with the Fourth Pay Commission, the University Grants Commission (U.G.C.) has established a revised pay scale for college and university teachers. As part of this, the U.G.C. has stipulated that an Assistant Professor will be eligible for the new scales if they pass the Eligibility Test, which will be administered by the U.G.C. As a result, the National Educational Tests (N.E.T.) for numerous subjects are administered by the U.G.C.
For science subjects, the U.G.C. and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (C.S.I.R.) conduct combined tests. The candidate is eligible to receive the U.G.C./C.S.I.R. Junior Research Fellowship (J.R.F.) and/or to be appointed as Assistant Professor if they pass either the NET or the combined tests. The U.G.C. has authorized the State Governments or State Agencies on behalf of the State Governments to conduct the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Assistant Professor, provided that the SET is appropriately accredited by the U.G.C. because there are a significant number of candidates who must be qualified to be appointed as Assistant Professors under the new pay scales.

MH SET Paper 1 Syllabus PDF

MH SET Exam Pattern 2023
The MH SET Syllabus 2023 Test will be led in disconnected Objective Mode. There will be two papers on the test. On the day of the examination, both papers will consist solely of objective-type questions and will be held in two uninterrupted sessions as follows:

Paper-I
- shall be of a general nature and serve to evaluate the candidate’s aptitude for teaching and research. Its primary purpose is to assess the candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. There will be fifty (50) two-point objective-type compulsory questions on Paper I.
Paper-II
- shall consist of one hundred (100) objective-type mandatory questions based on the candidate’s chosen subject (except mathematical science). There will be two points for each question.
No negative marking will occur.
The outcome will not be reevaluated or checked again. There will be no correspondence in this regard.
